Take your kids on more hikes!
Kids today spend more time inside than they ever have before. A recent study found that the average child spends about six hours a day looking at a screen, like a TV, computer, or phone. That's almost half of the time they're awake.
With all the new gadgets and technology, it's not surprising that kids spend less time outside. But hiking with your kids has so many good things about it! Here are a few reasons why you should take your kids on more hikes.
1. When kids go hiking, they get away from screens.
As we've already said, kids these days spend way too much time in front of screens. By taking them on a hike, you can get them away from their screens and into the fresh air and exercise.
2. It's a great way to get to know your children better.
Hiking is a great way to spend time with your kids and get to know them better. You can talk to them and get to know them on the trail. You can also teach them about nature and how important it is to take care of our planet.
3. They’ll get some exercise.
Hiking is a great way for kids (and adults!) to get in shape. It makes their hearts beat faster and gives them a chance to burn off some energy. And because it's usually done at a slower pace, it's a great way for kids to get some exercise without feeling like they're working out.
4. They’ll learn about nature.
Kids can learn a lot about nature and the environment by going on hikes. They can see firsthand the beauty of nature and learn about the plants and animals that live there.
5. It’s good for their mental health, and YOURS!
Studies have shown that being in nature is good for your mental health in many ways. It can make you feel less stressed, anxious, and sad. Taking your kids hiking can help them in more than one way.
Hiking is a great activity for kids of all ages. It's a fun way to get some exercise and see more of the outdoors. So the next time you want to do something with your kids, think about going on a hike!
